Program Description

Immerse yourself in the culture, history and geology of the Ozarks. Learn about the settlers, life in log cabins and farming with mules - "when living was hard but life was surely simpler." Discuss the Civil War and its influence on the Ozarks. Field study showcases the natural beauty of the area. Travel through a pastoral valley rich in history - through which the Cherokee Nation Trail of Tears, the Butterfield Stage and Civil War troops traveled. Meet the miller at an historic grist mill and visit Bonniebrook, home of the Kewpie doll. Enjoy a Branson excursion and a Branson music show. Nationally recognized musicians will perform old-time tunes and our instructors are some of the Ozark's finest writers, folklorists and musicians.
